This prehistoric shark was found south of Tokyo by the Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka. It usually lives about 2000 to ~3300 ft under the sea - a depth too deep for human beings to go. This is the only footage of this species. Its commonly referred to as the "living fossil" because it hasn't changed much since prehistoric times.
